Weekends

We spent a good deal of Saturday weeding in our yard, OK, Farmer Dad was weeding and Princess and I were
lazing in our lounge chairs reading and swinging on the swings. Then he joined her in her pool, and I got to take a nap.A nap! It was lovely.
The evening was spent at our good friends house eating and watching the kids play in the yard.
Princess fell asleep pretty early for her, and so did I.
Sunday found me sleeping later than everyone in my house, which has happened maybe once before.
My sister asks me to go with her to the local warehouse store, so we all went and then to two more stores.
Three hours later we stopped for lunch and then began the unloading and putting away process.I need another nap!
I did get Princess some adorable Ice cream sandwich molds.Hopefully we'll get to use them this week.
She also picked out a folder, notebook and pencil box for the new "school year". I will have to get a picture
later, her choice of folder really cracked us up. I almost refused, but I had told her she could choose whatever
she wanted. Remind me not to use those words again.
We also picked up some snack foods, as August is officially "vacation month" at our house.
We will be having more play dates and day trips, and not doing "school".hope it will give me time to prepare more for the coming year and her time to just "be".
Here are some pictures from the last couple of days...including the yellow squash parmigiana
we made together on Friday night for dinner.Mm Mm!

It looks like you had a wonderful Augus weekend--lounging by the pool, eating popsicles and all that wonderful summer stuff :) And I am curious about two things. Where did you get the ice cream sandwich molds, and what kind of folder your Princess picked for herself. I told my son he could have any kind of birthday cake he wanted and he picked a "bathroom" birthday cake. Kids are funny!
Your blog makes me so excited to be a fellow homeschooler :)

Darling photo of Princess and her dad.

So she couldn't decide what to choose or did she select something for an older child?

Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion has no hold on the mind. Therefore do not use compulsion, but let early education be a sort of amusement; you will then be better able to discover the child's natural bent .
