Thursday meanders into Friday

Wednesday night we had a lovely visit from two of our
favorite nieces. It was brief, but lovely to see them both.
Princess loves all her cousins very much.
Thursday passed quickly from a "crafty" type of day, to an all out
"rip all that stuff out of the closet and move it around day".
I pulled a good deal of Princess's room apart trying to
make more room for her current favorite toys.We made piles to freecycle and
a pile to send over to my cousin's daughter who is having a baby boy
in a couple of months. While I was cleaning, Princess played with her "see and spell",
colored, played with her water table, dressed all her stuffed animals in doll clothes and fed them a feast
in her play kitchen and ran a "marathon race" in the living room with a stuffed bunny on a leash.
While cleaning out her closet I found a huge stack of books that we received from a fellow freecycler
that I completely forgot about! I was reminded of my lofty goal of "organizing" all the books in our house, so I know that I have it on hand when I need it.
Princess helped me carry them downstairs and we will get the shelves better organized down there
later this month.
She was happy to look around her room this morning and see it was "much more tidy".
I even got some of the piles of "homeschooling stuff" in my kitchen more organized.
I still have more to do, but I'm making headway.
Princess had a very early (before 8 pm) night due to not feeling well.
Summer cold? Allergies? Not sure, she has a runny nose and her eyes were tearing, but no fever.
She slept through the night until 7:30 this morning when she woke up to tell me of her fanciful
dreams of being a "naughty" dragon who chased little Alley, (our cat)around the yard.
We had some breakfast and she is watching a bit of television and playing with her Polly Pocket
dolls in the living room while I check my mail and post a bit.
We were supposed to head over to the sprayground today, but it is raining again.(somebody cue the Supertramp). This is the second time this week that this play date has been put on hold due to weather.
I am sure Farmer Dad is smiling in his lab right now thinking of his squash drinking it all in!
Tonight we will try to head down to Princeton to hear Princess's favorite musical performer this side of Bon Jovi
sing, mr ray.
Rain or no rain, mr ray rocks!
Hopefully I will get more organized and be able to post about the curriculum we'll be using for Princess's Kindergarten year starting in September very soon.

Sounds like a wonderful day! HS stuff takes over our kitchen as well, and as much as I hate the mess, I secretly get thrilled everytime I see it. Riley's Polly Pocket stuff is everywhere, I found a little high heel in the cereal this morning???
I am curious as to which curriculum you will be using. By the way, when is P's b-day, if you don't mind me asking?

That sounds like a fun time. Unfortunetly the HS stuff takes over our whole apartment. Oh well at least it looks like the kids are learning. LOL

I hear you on the cleaning. I cleared out Zahara's room and sorted through and put into piles. I didn't realize how much fun it is to have the whole family help.
As for homeschool, I feel I am so behind because I can not think of anything right now but making money :( I will start school when we get back. Although traveling is school too, right?

My only rule is for her to put the polly pieces back in the bin the get stored in when she is done. :-)
I promise to blog on the curriculum next week.

What a great feeling to get things in order. I always need to do that before I can "think." ;) Don't fret about not having all the plans together for kindergarten. Not to overstate the obvious, but it is kindergarten. Putting on my wise old homeschooler hat, "You are at the beginning of a journey, not a race!"

LWO, Thanks, we love 'em.
I feel like I got a good start,lol.

Angela- I know, I know...I try to remind myself that, but I do want her to have a good kindergarten experience.:-)

She has good taste. :) I still like Bon Jovi more than 20 years later.

May I ask where you get those trays with handles?

Garden State Kate said...

Hi C- I picked up the tray at
our local Rag Shop, they are going out of business, so go quickly if you have one near you. If not, check out
your local craft shop they probably have something similar in the unfinished wood area.

First, Brit's comment about the Polly shoe made me spit food with laughter.

Can't wait to read about the plans. Homeschool stuff is taking over every room in my house as well but mostly my kitchen. DH said I could use the kitchen table area for "full on" homeschooling. So I am going to hang the bulletin board, our new calendar and probably a poster about cooperation if I can find one (Citcat is driving me crazy with her uncooperative behavior). Anyway, I am looking forward to getting some shelves and really junking up the eat-in part of our kitchen. lol Not feeling like I have to put it all away everyday will be nice. That said, I do have other rooms for homeschooling but the kitchen is close to the laundry room and well the food prep. It is the easiest place to do it. I hope to blog about this issue in the future.

BTW, was the see and spell helpful?

I love hearing about all the little things she does. It sounds an awful lot like Z's days around here.

Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion has no hold on the mind. Therefore do not use compulsion, but let early education be a sort of amusement; you will then be better able to discover the child's natural bent .
