Happy Arbor Day!
Today we are learning about Trees in honor of Arbor Day.
We watched It's Arbor Day Charlie Brown
this morning, and we have been looking at our "tree" books that are listed in Monday's post.Thankfully, the rain from last night has stopped, so we will go out this afternoon and identify the trees in our yard and try to measure them. We will also try to make our own "tree book" and a couple of "tree" crafts have been planned. I'm hoping this will be fun for Princess and encourage her love
of nature as well. I'll post pics later this afternoon. So now I encourage you to turn off your computers and Go Hug a Tree!!

My homeschool buddies and I are all posting pics of
our "home schools" as part of our idea sharing.

Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion has no hold on the mind. Therefore do not use compulsion, but let early education be a sort of amusement; you will then be better able to discover the child's natural bent .

It sounds like a good day. The leaves on our tress are barely visable so I think it would be a bit difficult to identify trees at this point. Oh, and our poor Dogwoods are a mess from the cold snap. I read a book to Citcat yesterday entitled Meow Monday by Phyllis Root. She giggled and giggled. It was about a tree of "pussy" willows (cats) and in the end the "dog"wood tree started barking. It was very funny.
Arbor Day? Already? Good thing DH took the lead on this one...as I forgot. He is getting me a tree peony, and I can hardly wait!
I guess this calls for some tree sketching!
