Graham Cracker Houses

Princess has been asking to make
gingerbread houses

tired of hearing myself say.."not today" for the millionth
time in a row Yesterday, I pulled some graham crackers,
powdered sugar and candy decorations out of the cabinet.
Fun ensued....it wasn't very pretty to me, but she loved the
finished product and had a blast doing it.

Today we are using paper and a milk carton and glue....I'll let you know how it turns out
on Friday....

Great idea and it also a great way to get rid of Halloween candy. How did you make the "glue" frosting?

She looks like she was very patient with that project.

Lovely houses! You are so lucky to have graham crackers - I can't find anything like that here. It looks like such a fun craft.

That looks like so much fun! I'm wondering how big of a mess CJ would make with that project...maybe next year. :o)

My kids have never made gingerbread houses. Im not even sure they know there is such a thing. I think I'll keep them clueless for the time being! :)

Great job!

I can't wait to make gingerbread house. I think I am more excited than ds. I have never made it before. What did you use for the icing. Store bought or homemde?

Thanks Gals...I should have said, P used water and powdered sugar for the "glue"...I added a bit of vanilla for flavor, but she doesn't usually have an interest in eating her design, just licks her fingers.
Mrs. D- P is addicted to the Gingerbread contests on the Food Network and always wants to get in the kitchen and make one too.

Yas- I would have used store made icing if I had any on hand..this was a quick down and dirty project.

Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion has no hold on the mind. Therefore do not use compulsion, but let early education be a sort of amusement; you will then be better able to discover the child's natural bent .
