Martin Luther King Day

In honor of Martin Luther King Day, I planned a couple of crafts and activities
to do with Princess while we discussed a little bit of who he was and what
he tried to accomplish. Princess woke up wanting to talk some more about her Poppa today and why people get old and die.
So we did.
Now she is watching a movie and having a snack after spending some time this morning with her cousins while I ran an errand.
Maybe we'll cover Dr. King later, or maybe it will wait until another day.

I just read your "about information" and I am so excited to find another person in the discovery phase. I am always searching for mothers who are homeschooling their first. I know the little ones in bigger families are being home schooled but their studies don't always appear on other's blogs.

Don't worry about technilogical difficulities. Blogger does not make it easy to blog (IMO). I write my site on Typepad which does everything for you. It is all really a shell. It is worth spending a bit of money if you decide blogging is something you want to continue. We blogged our adoption on Blogger (blogspot) and it was not easy.

I have learned so much about how I want to home school through blogging.

We spent only a bit of time on MLK yesterday. I guess it doesn't matter when you study something so long as you do. Yesterday I realized that some topics need to be addressed slowly over many small talks.

My homeschool buddies and I are all posting pics of our "home schools" as part of our idea sharing.

Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion has no hold on the mind. Therefore do not use compulsion, but let early education be a sort of amusement; you will then be better able to discover the child's natural bent .
