Busy weekend wrap up

Somewhere between Friday morning and this morning, we got
a lot of stuff done.
Princess and I made caramel apples,

She did most of it by herself. I was there to handle the hot pan only.
We also brought
in any ripening tomatoes, peppers and beans.
We got the rest of the odds and ends put away from her party
last weekend. We did school work, cleaned a bit, had a lovely visit with one
of my younger brothers. This was probably Princess's favorite part of the weekend,
because they jammed out a bit downstairs taking turns playing the drums, bass, guitar,
and mandolin. He is living in Virginia while he goes to grad school, so we don't see him often.
Sunday I met up with a couple of the moms in our homeschool group, and we hit a big
sale to raise money for the Visiting Nurses Association. It was the last day of the 3 day sale, so everything was half off and they had $10.00 bag deals in all the tents. It was such an organized sale and I came home with a stack of games, books, and some nice vintage kitchen ware! While I was gone,Princess and Farmer Dad met a women about a piece of milk glass at Panera Bread and after picking up a loaf of cheese bread, they went to McDonalds so she could play while he had coffee.
It was so nice to be with my friends for a bit and alone for a bit (we split up to hit different areas we were interested in) and then I came home to see the end of the Giants game and have some cheesy bread with my family. Princess and I immediately played a round of Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?
After dinner, I took a ride over to the library to drop off and pick up some holds. I took the time to look around for some books for me. Two bags later, I came home.Princess and I snuggled up to watch a tv show together
and then it was books and bed.

Wow, it sounds like you did a lot of cools things. I've never made caramel apples before. Is it easy? Do you have a special recipe?

Good finds at the sale!

Oh my goodness, you even went the gourmetn way with the caramel instead of using those awful caramel wraps! Those look divine.

My table looks exactly like yours with tomatos in all stages of ripening. I told my husband somebody really needs to make a puzzle out of tomatoes at all stages. The colors are incredible. Its fall at its best.

I remember toffee apples from primary school. The ultimate in yumminess.

Those apples look divine. I think we may borrow your idea and make some here as well.

My homeschool buddies and I are all posting pics of our "home schools" as part of our idea sharing.

Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion has no hold on the mind. Therefore do not use compulsion, but let early education be a sort of amusement; you will then be better able to discover the child's natural bent .
