Mom Unplugged organized another group project.
This week's theme was Wax.
We decided to play along since we have been planning
to wax leaves for a while.
First we went outside to find leaves.
Then we spread them out on newspaper, and unrolled some
beeswax.
Then we melted the wax in a tin can inside a pot of water.
Then we dipped the leaves in the wax and put them on the newspaper to dry.
I was too nervous to take pictures of her dipping ..I was right on top of her..
repeating over and over "it's very hot!"
Then we punched holes in them and Princess strung them up.
We will continue as we find good leaves until we have a long enough piece
to hang over the kitchen windows.
Most of our trees still have their leaves.
If you joined in be sure to link over here so we can all see what you did.
Even if you didn't make something, be sure to check out all the creative ideas here.
That is how we came to making these...
Princess just had to make some of these..our version had to be different,
because we used what we already had out. ;-)

I have never heard of waxing leaves before. What a wonderful idea. Do they last a long time that way? I love Princess' cupcakes! I hope she had fun making them!
PS. I am glad you two were able to join in this week. We miss you!
I've never heard of waxing leaves before either - it looks pretty neat!
How funny! I didn't know that waxing leaves was a "thing." I had a crock pot full of wax, and a pretty red leaf on the counter...I dipped it in and it looked so cool! I thought I was an original. :(
Fabulous!
I also had never heard of waxing leaves till I saw it on the crafty crow.. I thought it might have been an american thing.. good to see mom unplugged hadnt heard of it either.. plus the leaves dont really change here.. so only green leaves or dead brown leaves to wax...
and I love you cupcake candle!!
Great looking wreath and it's wonderful that you are playing with some of the other projects listed too. That cupcake looks yummy ;)
This is a project I really want to try... Owen is not so interested though.
I wonder how long the leaves last once they are dipped in wax?? Are they pliable and bendable??
You both did a great job!!
I love your leaf project! I wanted to do it last year but never did. Thank you for inspiring me to do it this year!
We had fun waxing leaves last week. I really like the idea of stringing them. Perhaps we will have to give that a try.
Love, love, love the waxed leaves. Very cool
