Unplug Your Kids Group Project

This week, Mom Unplugged 's Group Project topic
is PAINT...we are so in.
We paint here at least every other day.
We paint in the kitchen, on the porch, in the bath
and in our yard. Princess loves to paint using anything
I give her access to. Food...finger paint..watercolors.
We use paintbrushes, stamps (some purchased, some homemade)
You get the idea. We really like to paint.
When Princess was younger I would tape large pieces of paper
to the floor and dress her only in her diaper and let her have at it.
She would always finish by painting herself and then we would have a bath.
Today we also usually end up with a bath, although I suspect it is out of habit.
If you have never done so..take some long sheets of paper and tape it to the floor,
have your child lie upon it and trace their outline. Now have them paint it.(we do this outside)
Princess and her friends love this. I use paper that comes as packaging. I have been known to
tape some together to make a long enough piece. We have also used newsprint- it made for an
interesting abstract art piece.

We haven't done body tracings in a year. We should do some soon and compare them.

Those big rolls of art paper work well for body tracing too, but I like your idea of recycling packing paper. Very fun! Thanks for joining us this week!

I love the larger than life project! Using old newspapers is a good idea.

Ami has a large roll of paper attached to her table by a curtain rod. When she has guests over the kids work together to fill a sheet with doodles.

I love the larger-than-life-size Princess! Very cute idea--fun for moms, too. I made a "body map" like this at a women's retreat a few years ago.

Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion has no hold on the mind. Therefore do not use compulsion, but let early education be a sort of amusement; you will then be better able to discover the child's natural bent .
