Picture Books...

We have picked up some more books from the library
that looked like fun:

Chicks and Salsa a bunch of chickens get tired of
eating the same old chicken feed, and after pilfering
a few ingredients from the farmer's garden, they whip
up some chips and salsa!Recipes included.
Princess loved trying to come up with how the animals
produced the "missing" ingredients...read it for yourself
if you are in the mood for a fiesta! of your own.
Warning..you will need Mexican food when done reading!

The Shivers in the Fridge
Princess thought this was a pretty funny story.
A "family" is living in a fridge and "the monsters"
keep reaching in and taking one member at a time.
The end brings them all together again and right where they
belong...on the outside of the fridge with all the other magnets!

Rainy Day! Very cute book about a bunch of crocodiles
who refuse to let a "bit of bad weather" stop them from
having a good time. They put on their rain gear and open their
umbrellas and try their best to ignore the rain.
They end up at the perfect place for rainy day contentment,
the library.

Me on the MAP Princess really enjoyed this book about
not only using maps, but making a map of your own.
I have to send some linky-love out to learningumbrella.
I never would have found this book without her!

An Island Grows was a book we used in our homeschool
science group when we studied Volcanoes a while back.
We finally found it at our library. Princess loves volcanoes
and loves this book about the birth of an island from the
first stone that breaks until it is a busy island in the sea,
where only water used to be.

I have so many more books I would love to tell you all about,
but I also have laundry to fold and a daughter who wants me to read
the pile of books next to the computer to her, so another day..
another book post.
I do hope to do another book post on this Tuesday.

Thanks so much for the link to Me on the Map. I've been looking for a book just like this for Ivo.

I love your book posts, Kate. Your blog is a great resource to me!

We read Me on the Map ages ago, and it's about time we read it again- thanks for the reminder! And I've had the Island book on my kitchen table for awhile now, just waiting for its turn to be on the blog because we enjoyed it so much.

Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion has no hold on the mind. Therefore do not use compulsion, but let early education be a sort of amusement; you will then be better able to discover the child's natural bent .
