March Madness?

I think I'm having a bit of March Madness here in our
little corner of the Garden State.....I cannot focus on
planning out a March "lesson plan", let alone blog it.
I had one all ready to go, and when I typed it out to post here,
I thought..."I just don't want to do that stuff".
Is it "cabin fever"? I'm not sure. Princess has been all over the place
mood and behavior wise...very helpful one minute, and throwing things the next!
Putting all her toys neatly away without being told, and rolling on the floor
like a whirling dervish the next! I feel the same way inside, although I would like
to think I am handling it a bit better, Farmer Dad would probably disagree .
I think we need a break and some sunlight and to run around outside a bit more.
Instead of focusing on the month, we will take it day by day and plan out our garden
and organize our living spaces, including getting things ready for a yard sale this spring.
We will all feel better once our house is in order...I hope.
I will post a list of upcoming "fun holidays" for this month a bit later on today and
I will even get to a book post...we picked up some good ones and I do want to tell you about them.
I will keep you up to date with our garden plans here
in case you are interested.

I can totally relate the "cabin fever" feeling. The only thing keeping me going so we finish the year on time is the little days of teasing sunshine we have had, letting us know spring is almost here. If we can just crack down and get everything done, we can have freedom when the weather is nice.

It must be the something in the air. Because it is the same exact way here. Hang in there.

Good luck. I think you're right about just going with the flow of things. It will make everyone happier in the long run!

I get exactly the same way and actually built it into my annual curriculum. I like acknowledging the effect the changing season has on me. We do a lot of fun and sacred things at the start of Spring, and seldom are at home. Our instinct for book learning always returns as the seasons change again.

Going day-by-day will bring many teachable moments, I'm sure. I sometimes think kids learn more from life's teachable moments than they do from a carefully planned curriculum.

Now, what's germinating in that terracotta pot? Shamrocks?

Sounds like maybe you are having cabin fever. Would a short walk around the neighborhood help?

I bet clearing out the house and getting it in order will. That always works for me. I love doing it because of how much better I always feel afterwards.

It sounds like a great approach.

I am also in the cleaning mode again, and our "camp" activities are acceptable to dd. We have been taking a daily walk around the neighborhood with Ami pushing the Toy Poodle in his stroller. I hope to reconnect the solar for the pool in two weeks hoping to warm it to an acceptable temperature. Swimming exercise a couple of times a day really helps DD.

We've gotten off to a rough start in March, too. Things have started to even out here- I hope they have at your house too!

It must be something about March.... cabin fever has set in here as well. Fortunately, Easter is just around the corner and spring shouldn't be far behind.

My homeschool buddies and I are all posting pics of our "home schools" as part of our idea sharing.

Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion has no hold on the mind. Therefore do not use compulsion, but let early education be a sort of amusement; you will then be better able to discover the child's natural bent .
