Need ideas of stuff to do with the lights off?
How about a rousing game of Flashlight Tag in
the backyard? How about a Scavenger Hunt for
recyclables (cereal boxes-scrap paper-newspaper-etc)
with flashlights? You could read by candlelight or flashlight
or fireplace or wood burning stove....
You could just all snuggle up in the biggest bed in the house
and talk about what you could do to lower your families
carbon footprint on the planet, or just tell stories about
how much you love each other.

I just KNOW I will forget! Probably because we will be playing D&D as usual. Aargh. But since I'm a lights-out-when-you're-not-using-them type of person, I hope the world will excuse me. :-)
May the hour of darkness really show people that they CAN live without constantly burning fossil fuels.
Last night, I was reflecting on the enjoyable simplicity of just watching the sky darken... Just 'cause. And it was some of the best entertainment I think I've had in months!

I'm so out of the loop, but I LOVE this idea, and I agree with Princess. Why not make it a nightly event, especially considering that DST has had no effect on conserving energy?
Kudos as well to Farmer Dad for his fence building endeavors using materials already on hand. I'm totally digging the resourcefulness you guys demonstrate.
Your forsythia has me green with envy! I need two or three of those at z-flats!
