Unplugged Group Project

Mom Unplugged is hosting another group project.

Monday's theme is "Paper."

Or if you prefer:

Water Paper Painting:
  • Wet some paper down with a paintbrush. Have your child (or you!) draw on it with paints or magic markers and see what happens.
  • Be sure to link back
Princess and I have decided that since Monday December 3rd is National Roof Over Your Head Day,
we will be making houses out of sheets of paper. I will give her different shapes of construction paper
which she will use to make her own house or houses.
We may even cut pictures out of some old magazines
to show types of homes.
And we will be reading this
Lets-Go-Home by Cynthia Rylant
as well as On Meadowview Street by Henry Cole
Here is a picture of our finished unplugged project

the house on the left is supposed to be like the "multi leveled" roof house on the bottom of the page.

We also spent some time talking about different types of houses for people and animals.

What a wonderful idea! I like how you tied it in with learning about houses and Nat'l Roof Over Your Head Day (I hadn't heard about this "holiday!"). Very nice artwork too.

I'm glad you are back with us this week. Hope your Thanksgiving was good!

Are you sure you aren't a kindergarten teacher in disguise? What a wonderful project connecting a fun day an two great books. We loved them both. :)

I really need to do the Unplugged projects if only to find the motivation to do art with Citcat. If only she would cooperate.

Thank you all!
We had a lot of fun and a long
day filled with discussion about
the many types of homes people and animals live in. It was hard for me to control myself and limit the amount of plans that were growing in my head. lol
Thanks for visiting Hettie..I enjoy
your blog as well!
DonnaMarie...in NJ? How was I feeling so alone? ;-)

That is an unusual day, one I hadn't heard of. I like how you used it to tie art and reading. Her houses are warm and homey.

That is one fantastic house! I don't think I could come up with something so nice, and I'm at least 26 years older than P. :) (Yep, I draw like a 4-year-old.)

Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion has no hold on the mind. Therefore do not use compulsion, but let early education be a sort of amusement; you will then be better able to discover the child's natural bent .
