Homeschool Day at Liberty Science Center

Yesterday was Homeschool Day at Liberty Science Center.

Princess and I brought Little Miss Peanut and her Mom as
Peanut's Birthday present. We all drove up together and met another homeschool
friend and her boys there.

While the gals worked a skyscraper construction site, one of the boys took
on his fear of heights by walking the skyscraper beam, way overhead.

He did great!! To celebrate we went to look at the creepy crawlies and other live
critters...Princess and E. check out the various cockroaches (the Hissing ones were the fave
along with the "puffer" fish)
It was pretty exciting! (A. sure thought so)

Princess checks out how the human eye works.

I hope this patient has good coverage..there certainly are a lot of docs
on his case!

This bubble thing is by far the favorite attraction..they NEVER want to leave it.
You can't go to the science museum without learning about static electricity...
Princess trying out the rock wall... Taking a break before heading over to check out the Hudson River (another perennial favorite)
They all took turns doing an experiment about estuary water composition.

These turtles were also popular

Another big hit? Dredging the Hudson.
Princess could have stayed here for hours.

Our view of Jersey City during lunch. We watched for a while after lunch. But more fun was calling our name...
can you see Angela and myself in the mirror? Those kids sure had fun chasing the fishies!

A group shot before parting ways to head home.
We all needed to watch the Hoberman Sphere do it's thing...
The gift shop beckons.... Princess,Peanut and Naomi outside on the way to the car.
After hanging out at their house for dinner and dress up, we went home
to show Farmer Dad what we picked out from the gift shop.
Another bird for her collection and a necklace. It was a good day.

The plush American goldfinch chirps, doesn't it!

We have that very same bird from the Vermont Institute of Natural Sciences gift shop!

I love goldfinches and put thistle seed out for them, thistles in the lawn be d*mned!

Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion has no hold on the mind. Therefore do not use compulsion, but let early education be a sort of amusement; you will then be better able to discover the child's natural bent .
