I woke up ready to sit outside with my hot cup of tea
this morning, but it is snowing!
Yes, snowing. This isn't all that unusual for New Jersey,
it can snow here through May,but still...snowing.
I am batting a thousand this week.Things are just not going to plan.
Does that happen to all of you as well?
Do your homeschool plans sit languishing, because life gets in the way?
Does your child take an instant dislike to every idea you spent hours
coming up with to both inform and entertain her(or him, or them)?
Do you all get sick right when the best field trip plans of the century
are coming to fruition? Does it snow when you were planning on
celebrating the arrival of Spring in your neighborhood?
Yes, I know it appears so "happy" and "fun" here most of the time,
and we have cupcakes for crying out loud...how could things get so off
track? There is only one thing to do...we'll have a
"Winter's Last Hurrah Party"
today..maybe in our jammies! Hot Cocoa, cupcakes, popcorn, egg rolls for lunch...
there will be snow themed books..
Can I turn this disaster around???

Yes, yes and yes! Plans change, the lesson I spent hours putting together goes over like a lead balloon, it pours buckets on the day I want to take a nature walk. Your honesty is refreshing in the word of perfect blog homeschools. Thank you for sharing. And that spring party? You can have it any day there is sunshine... one more winter fling might be kind of fun.

Wonderful idea! I am going to steal it if we get snow again, which we could.
Snow is the poor man's fertilizer... they say that a lot up here... probably because winter lasts for 9 months.
Oh yes... I have those days where nothing seems to go as planned. The cool experiment is a dud, the book is a flop, the movie is boring.....

Ideas don't always translate into reality, and kids have their own thoughts on what they want to do. Teaching kids is as much an art as a science - and some days it's not your plan but your ability to follow their lead that makes you successful.
So you're doing great!
What an excuse to have a party!
We celebrated the beginning of spring by openning the three season porch for a few hours. They loved it, and it kept them out of the mud for a while...
I know you and P will still have a great day! My homeschool plans have been consistently flopping for the last 6 months! We'll all make it though!

We just got a cold snap here...
60 degrees after summer-like weather feels like a slap in the face.
I've never been exposed to snow much. I'd probably be unable to get out of bed!
