Books I am Reading to my Daughter

It is Tuesday, so it must be time for my weekly book post.

I had a hard time deciding which ones to write about this week..I have

far too many out of the library that we have been enjoying to write about in one post.

I will simply start with the top of the pile and continue on next Tuesday.

We cannot resist taking this book out every year.

The gentle tale, the lovely illustrations...

we always enjoy it.
a good day's fishing

Princess and Farmer Dad are going fishing on Saturday with our friend

and his son (Princess's friend). It is "opening day".

She got her own pole on Sunday..it's pink.

Princess enjoyed this book about what a boy is carrying in his tackle box.

His self proclaimed most important item? His hat!

Her tackle box is shaped like a butterfly and not big enough for anything,

but it is her own and she loves it. There is a nice glossary about flies and lures in the back of the book.Wish her luck on her first real fishing trip.

This is one of those delightful books with no words at all.

I have to admit, I was never a big fan of them myself, but Princess

loves them! She can make her own story up easy as pie, and she loves to

make them up over and over. This story begins and ends with a wave.

I have a feeling this will make at least one trip down the shore with us this year.

This is a lovely tribute to the women who left all they knew behind them

to travel west on the prairies with their families to make a life on the new land.

In this story, Pa sees that promise of the new land, but Ma misses home.

The children and Pa clear a garden plot for her and she uses the packet

of seeds from her sister and friends back home to make the new land feel like home.

"A Packet of Seeds" sounds really interesting! I'll have to see if our library has it.

Great post! You know it is really fantastic that P can make up stories so well. She's so creative.
Cate has never enjoyed wordless books.

BTW, I like your new sidebar. It looks great.

Where did you get the original recommendations for Packet of Seeds? I wrote about it last week but didn't know where I came across it.

Hope P has fun fishing. She's a lucky girl to have a dad who makes the time to do it.

I think you'll like it Wendy. :-)
Nina..I don't know..I asked our library to buy it for me a while ago, and it just came in. I normally don't like to cover the same books as you, you do a much better job than I ever could, but I had waited soooo long to get my hands on it.lol
P is excited about Saturday.Unfortunately, my Grandmother has taken a sharp turn
for the worse, and may not make it until Saturday, so I am not sure what will happen to all of our plans. :-(

Thanks for the book reviews. You know how I love Tasha Tudor. I love the sound of Packet of Seeds. I'm putting that on my book wish list for our next library trip.

Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion has no hold on the mind. Therefore do not use compulsion, but let early education be a sort of amusement; you will then be better able to discover the child's natural bent .
