Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

One of my favorite holiday songs has to be;
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas from the film
Meet Me In St. Louis.Written by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane in 1943.
~~~~~~
Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light
From now on,our troubles will be out of sight
Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yule-tide gay,
From now on,our troubles will be miles away.
Here were are as in olden days,happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us gather near to us once more.
Through the years we all will be together
If the Fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now.
~~~~~~
If you aren't hearing Judy Garland singing this in your head right now,
go put on Meet Me in Saint Louis right now!
What? You don't have it sitting in the drawer just waiting for you?
Tisk Tisk, poor you..no excuse..go rent it if you must.
And while you're at it...Have yourself, a Merry little Christmas now.....
I will be working on getting my camera hooked up to the new machine

so I can upload photos..soon..I promise. ((hugs))

I love that song too! My favorite line is "hang a shining star upon the highest bough." To me it means reach for peace and connection. All the decorating and gifting I(we all) do is really a symbol of love and hope.
Much warmth to you all,
P

That one's definitely harder to get tired of than most.

My all-time fave is Silver Bells, although I loathe a bustling city sidewalk at Christmas, or at any other time, really, so, go figure.

The one stuck in my head this season is O Holy Night. I'm not religious, mind you, but, when alone, in the car, I turn the heater (noisy) and the music (repetitive) off, and I sing O Holy Night until I'm blue in the face.

Scary part: for all intents and purposes, I'm tone deaf. And sometimes I have to make up the lyrics as I go.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, Kate, to you and yours, and I wish you all every happiness in the upcoming year!

Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion has no hold on the mind. Therefore do not use compulsion, but let early education be a sort of amusement; you will then be better able to discover the child's natural bent .
