Enjoying the Autumn

Princess and I enjoyed a long leisurely breakfast today
and then she had a long bubble bath.My friend called and
asked us to come over to see them before they leave for
vacation, so we made an exception to our "never leave
the house on Monday" rule.
Of course when she called, I had no idea what time it was
and thought I had a couple of hours to be ready, and when she called
to say she was home and we should come over, Princess was still in the bath.
She lured me over with the promise of fresh coffee, so we got her dry and dressed,
and off we went. The weather was perfect, so we hung outside watching the kids
ride around the front walk and then play on the swings in the back.
Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, so you will not get to see their dog climbing
into the trampoline enclosure to be near the kids, or the kids climbing the tree in the front yard.
I kept reaching for my camera, only to remember I forgot it at home.
We came home and Farmer Dad met us at the door for a change.
Dinner was quick and easy to prepare since my sister cooked baked ziti this weekend and
sent some home with Princess.
I just steamed some green beans and made a side salad and we were ready to eat.
I even got to run over to our library to pick up some books I had on hold, while Princess
played a computer game with her Dad.
They were snuggled up on the couch talking (and with the tv off) when I got home a short half hour later.
Normally, I would take an hour for myself, but I knew I would not have time for much reading this week, so
I just picked up my holds and went home.Tomorrow we will check them out and I'll let you all know all
about them.

Those are my kind of days. I wish everyday is relaxing as those days. :)

We have adopted the same rule about not leaving the house on Monday, at least until late afternoon. If we go somewhere in the morning, the rest of the day is spent out as well, and nothing gets done. It's nice to have a day to relax after weekend activities, and get back to school stuff, and housework (which I would gladly ignore if I could).

Sounds like my idea of a good Monday. :) Sometimes I wish I could not leave the house all week, but I think DD would revolt.

Hey, it's good to know your limits at the library. ;)

Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion has no hold on the mind. Therefore do not use compulsion, but let early education be a sort of amusement; you will then be better able to discover the child's natural bent .
