The Secret World of Arrietty

Last night we took Princess to see The Secret World of Arrietty.
We are huge Studio Ghibli fans!It was wonderful!
The movie is based on the Mary Norton novel, The Borrowers and tells the story of a young Borrower named Arrietty, who lives under the floorboards of a house shared by a boy with a heart condition and his Aunt. Arrietty befriends the boy, but her family must escape when the Aunt's maid finds them and tries to destroy them.

We went to our favorite theater, The Dunellen Theater and Cinema Cafe.
Located at 458 North Street,Dunellen,NJ 08812
Every other row of seats have been removed and replaced with coffee tables.
They show mostly family oriented and children's movies, giving families a place to enjoy dinner and a movie at a very reasonable cost. Ticket prices are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for children and seniors. You can order off the Tavern Menu which includes a variety of sandwiches, salads, appetizers, children's menu and more,or take advantage of the Pizza Special which is 1 large cheese pizza and a pitcher of soda or beer for $14.75.We
usually get the pizza and beer and a side order of a small soda, small popcorn and 1 movie candy for Princess which is only $5.00.They do not have 3D, but we don't care for that anyway, so it's fine with us.
They also do Birthday Party packages at reasonable prices.

Once Summer comes they have Summer Movie Wednesdays.
Previously released movies shown on Wednesdays at 10am.
The tickets are $3.00 at the door for adults and children or you can buy a season pass for $22.00 and see all 10 movies that will play through out the summer. The kitchen is closed for the 10 am show, but the concession stand is open.
Here is the 2012 Summer Movie Schedule.

I hadn't heard about that movie! I'm so out of it - but I'm sure my kids would like it.

I had no idea what Arrietty was about but I love the Borrowers!

We love Dunellen, too.

We have seen this advertised but I think its no longer on at our cinemas here. i loved the borrowers when I was a kid and would like to share that with my children.

The price of your cinema is amazing too!Its at least twice that to see a movie at our cinema, and the cinema with tables and food is about $25 per ticket and not geared at families.Someone needs to pick this idea up down here!

My homeschool buddies and I are all posting pics of our "home schools" as part of our idea sharing.

Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion has no hold on the mind. Therefore do not use compulsion, but let early education be a sort of amusement; you will then be better able to discover the child's natural bent .
